Onions seem like a unique choice of microgreens, with their fine, long leaves. As seedlings, they have a grass-like appearance, with the black seeds hanging on to the leaf tips. Many would expect onion microgreens to taste harsh and pungent just like spring onion, but that's not true!

Onion sprouts and microgreens taste like a milder version of the spring onion, with the pleasant aroma associated with them. The leaves are also much finer than spring onion.

Onion microgreens are easy to grow, but take a slightly longer time to mature as compared to other microgreens. Onion seeds can also be sprouted in water by following our sprouting tutorial. Sow them very densely since they are narrow and slender!
