One of our local favorites that needs no introduction! Kang kung, also known as water spinach, is widely cultivated in Southeast Asia and is a common ingredient in our local cuisine. Kang kong is widely enjoyed stir-fried with sambal or belacan, or with cuttlefish and a sweet and sour sauce.

Kang kung is a tropical plant that thrives in the warm Singapore climate. Being an extremely hardy plant, kang kong is one of the easiest vegetables to grow and cultivate for beginner gardeners. As a semi-aquatic plant, kang kung grows well in moist soil.

Pre-soak the seeds for a few hours before sowing densely, as this variant of Kang Kong has slender leaves. Harvest the shoots young for a more tender bite!
