We are all familiar with basil leaves, now it's time to try them as a micro-herb! Basil microgreens easily contain up to four or five times more nutrients than the mature plant, despite having an identical taste.
Genovese basil is commonly known as sweet basil. It is the most widely used variant of basil, regularly used in tomato sauces, pesto, pizza and soup. Basil is also one of the most popular herbs grown in urban gardens, due to its love for sun and its versatility in recipes.
Basil microgreens are slightly more challenging to grow, with seedlings growing slower and shorter than typical microgreens. A full cycle from germination to harvest might take a few weeks. In exchange for your patience, you are rewarded with a superbly intense, sweet basil flavor!
Can be grown into an adult basil plant by sowing the seeds sparsely. Remember to keep pruning the tops of the plant to encourage branching and prevent your basil plant from flowering!
