Red Garnet Amaranth, also known as Chinese Spinach or Yin Choi, is a visually striking plant with its deep red and oval-heart shaped leaves. They grow well in hot weather, perfect for sunny Singapore!
Amaranth microgreens have a mild and earthy taste reminiscent of mustard, adding great colors to your salads. The seed, oil and leaves of amaranth are used in culinary practice and has also been used as medicine for conditions like diarrhea, ulcers, swelling in the mouth or throat, and even high cholesterol.
We recommend laying a thin layer of potting medium over the seeds after sowing to weight down the seeds. Amaranth can also be grown beyond the microgreen stage into baby leaf vegetables, to be used in the same way as spinach.
